I finally found the time and the wi-fi signal strength (at the same time) to load pictures onto the previous blog entries and onto Flickr, so if want to see them, just go back to “Our First Day in Guanajuato” and go forward. Or click onto Flickr on the right >>. I’ll load more, but time and wi-fi strength…..
Today we went to the Don Quijote Museum. (By the way, earlier - in referring to a statue - I wrote Quijote and Pablo. Of course, it’s Pancho Sanchez. Duh. I’ll go back and fix it, but in case you’ve already seen it… oops). It’s really worth seeing. The museum, that is. All sorts of artists, some very famous, represented with their art of Don Quijote. Statues, drawings, paintings, metal work, ceramic, everything. Tiny to Gigantic. All depicting Don Quijote in one way or another. The museum is in one of those wonderful old Hacienda style buildings with the large two story center courtyard. Really classy.
Back in Jardin Union, the mariache bands were warming up. There were half a dozen, I suppose. All dressed in their wonderful costumes. Even the hawkers (blankets, silver, lace, etc) were all dressed well. And they weren’t a problem, just a shake of the head or no gracias was enough. No sense in wasting time on someone who doesn’t want to buy.
We stayed for a little while, but we have laundry to finish and packing to do, so…. next stop. Aguascalientes. The taxi is coming at 7:30, the bus is at 8:40, we change buses in Leon, and should be met at the Airport by Don Juan Nieto and his family. We’re looking forward to it.
